Finally this track- Glow- that got me hooked onto this Belgium outfit was released in November. The main track and title of the 12" 'Justice' is the first track on this four track 12" with two tracks by Saviour...
These guys touch on everything from Grime to Dubstep, to Old School Garage. But alot of the heavy tunes of 2007 aren't on their My Space now (including Glow).

DJ Wasim - Gangsta Rock Riddim Mix (2006)
Fine, fine riddim. This riddim's 2 years old but still sounds fresh. Mr. Vegas's take on it.... Yikes!!!! I saw a beautiful girl dancing a Middle Eastern dance to Mr.Vegas's version, stunning. DJ Wasim (Guyanese, brought up in Canada) is 17 years old. 17! He's got an Old School 90's Dancehall Mix on you tube. He must have been 0 years old when a lot of this stuff was released...
Playlist:
1. gangsta rock - elephant man
2. who a dweet - mr vegas
3. to kill - bounty killer
4. nicer than yard - shaggy
5. get crazy - voicemail
6. gangsta game - chico ft. alozade

Same guy who's done the Movado dreamin' dub remix? I don't know but something about Movado and Dub/ Dubstep works. His tracks are so good you can't go wrong really, but gotta give props where pops are due.
The second track 'Take U there' has a prettier feel, softer, chill, not dirty. Water flowing on a stream...
I'd love to know who's doing these remixes.

Jeru the Damaja part 2 with a bit of old school garage in the mix
I'm feeling a little melancholy tonight...I'm gonna have to take it way back. Jeru was real cool, he was great with the crowd. It was definitely worth the wait but the crowd was super young, this is one of the reasons me and Fabric don't kick it, but the system!.. I'll give them that at least. It would have been really amazing to see him in a crowd of old school hip hop heads, with people who know his music. The energy would have been different. I also found out that Mister Damaja has done a Drum n Bass collab with Kabuki, but can't find this track anywhere. Jeru the Damaja on a drum n bass track, I'm real excited to hear this collab.
I was listening to some TRC tonight and it made me think of the days of old school garage, what an era and what a tune this is....

Jeru The Damaja London Fabric 05/12/08
I haven't been around for a minute, I've been a little preoccupied with what's gonna be round the corner in 2009. How did December come round so quick, 2007 was never ending, and 2008 flew by.
This post is really about Jeru the Damaja, it just takes a little bit of time to get there, the way I found out that he's in London tomorrow is just as convoluted as the diatribe of this post.
I was listening to some grime beats and tracks today and I got to listening to Tinchy Stryder, grime artists in the U.K. are usually pretty young and it makes sense why the kids of their generation listen to them, my excuse is that I love the beats and I wanna keep up with what the youth are doing.
I ended up checking his freestyle out on Westwood and that took me onto checking Craig David's freestyle on Westwood, and for a singer I think most people were surprised that he could do something different, I'm not so sure why 'cause when he first came out he was known for his garage mcing more than R'n'B and actually I reckon he was one of the artists of that time that led to garage becoming commercialized, was that a bad or good thing? I'm not sure, it's just a fact, he came out with the track 'Rewind' and that's kind of when he really blew up. He didn't stick to just R'n'B, he was pretty flexible with his music and his sound was unique at that time, no one else was doing what Craig David was doing.
So he freestyled on three tracks on Westwood and the last track was the Notorious B.I.G beat for 'give me one more chance'. I love that beat, but the best of B.I.G. is the real raw stuff, no female vocals nothing, just him mcing... and so I went back into time and: 'The what' feat Mos Def and it was under that track that some guy had posted saying that old school Hip Hop to him was:
A Tribe Called Quest
Jeru The Damaja
Gang Starr
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth
Nas
The Jungle Brothers
and that's how I came all the way to discovering that Jeru is going to be performing tomorrow night at both Fabric and Scala. 'Come Clean', 'Da Bichez' (The sun Rises in the East), 'Me Or The Papes' (Wrath of the Math),'Ya Playin Yaself' (Wrath of the Math), were the tracks that first introduced me to this guy and funnily enough it was all those years ago on WESTWOOD (believe it or not) that I found out about JTD... Man, Jeru's beats and the lyrics, nothing like it. Back then Westwood was super underground and played HIP HOP, you know? This guy was playing music that kids in certain parts of the U.K. didn't even have access to. As much as people try to discredit him,at that time, he did a lot to bring Hip Hop awareness to the U.K. and probably doesn't get as much respect as he should for it.
This is how I found out that the man Jeru is gonna be in London tomorrow night at Fabric. It's a Drum 'n' Bass event. I don't know how it's happened that Jeru always ends up performing at D'n'B events, I went along to see him in 2005 (2006?) in Fabric but the place was rammed and I was so gutted I left early without seeing him, so tomorrow night if I get a chance to go, I will go to Fabric and I will hope that I get to see this man live. And why is it awesome that he's performing at a D'n'B event? Because in general Hip Hop heads and D'n'B heads don't usually mix, I'm not sure why, but this event forces them together and that makes me happy. It makes me happy because two of the musical genre's I love so much which are never usually in the same building come together. Yes to Jeru, and Yes to all the MC's who work with D'n'B beat makers to give drum n bass beats real, thought provoking lyrics to accompany. I wonder if Jeru likes Drum n Bass....
