Noah Feat. Blu- Just Relax 12"

Can't find any of Noah's work on you tube, but 'Just Relax' can be found on his and Blu's myspace. Another Japanese beat maker collabing with Blu. This 12" not only has the original version of Just Relax but two remixes (A Dan Aikido remix and quasimode remix) which are just as excellent as the original. You'll be hard pushed to pick your favourite. Beautiful Jazzy Soul Hip Hop and Real Jazz Hip Hop in the mix.

Mos Def - The Panties (Zero Tolerance remix)

I'm totally out of the loop with DnB...this has been around a while...Pure liquid, soulful DnB....mmmmmmmmmmmm. It would be cool to see Mos Def lay down a hiphop track to one of this guys beats. Zero T's my space page is overflowing with heavy DnB. The Dillinja Sky Remix is tight. He released his Cheap Shots album in August 2008, it features the beautiful 'Walk Away feat Steo' and is not a strictly pure DnB album, there's a couple of tracks with soul/ hiphop beats. Long Road feat. Steo is real nice.

Kaijin- Shinshoku feat Jihad the Roughneck (Third Sight) 12"

This week is gonna be relegated to the Japanese beatmakers and the MC's they're working with. Kaijin are an underground crew from Japan who've done alot of work with Thirdsight including a full on Japan tour. The crew's made up of two MC's and their D.J.(Cheol, a.k.a. KAILUCK, Isaka Yuichi, a.k.a. Jinsei and DJ Hosaka). The beat off this track as well as the Japanese MCing and Jihad's rhyming are super. The track can be heard on Kaijin's myspace and also on Jihad's page (Check out the Thirdsight page, dope beats and production from D-Styles and Du funk with Jihad the Roughneck's nonchalanty effortlessly smart lyricism, can't get any better than this). Thirdsight have been around for time and a half, the release of their Symbionese Liberation Album in 2006 was a great day... I was pretty hyped to find this on isound...

System- Near Miss 12"

This years been a tough year for me and drum n bass. The most exciting release, for me, was the Cardz and Ena Deadstock album,.. but other than that, I've been a little disappointed with what's been coming out this year. But this track (Digital Soundboy) has got me excited yo! Dubstep is not the new drum n bass...DnB will always be different, special, unique. Dubstep has got it's own place, it's own individuality. To compare the two is like comparing old school garage and grime.

Shingo Suzuki- Night Lights With Thirdiq 7"

Night Lights With Thirdiq
Flyable (feat Moka Only)

These tracks are coming off the super mellow 'The Abstract Truth' album (Origami productions) which was released this year.Shingo Suzuki has only one clip on youtube, 'High Music' feat Blu. It's also off the same album. I've put it up but the two tracks on this 7" are beautiful, you won't be disappointed if you can get hold of it. Both tracks are on his myspace page to listen to. Japanese artists...they just make great music, the realest musicians...

Shing02

Shing02 has been featured on youtube for the past couple of days. His Japanese beatmaker Eccy makes awesome music for him, but the track thats being featured is 'suburban feat shing02'. On this track he's rhyming in Japanese. The stuff he's done with Eccy is in English and he's done a few tracks with Nujabes (a Japanese hip-hop producer and DJ who records under the name nujabes an anagram of his real name Jun Seba) who makes beautiful, sweet beats.

King Midas Sound- Cool Out 12"

On Hyper Dub records, I'm loving the first two tracks on this 12". Cool Out and One Ting (Dabrye Remix) have a ghostly sound with some heavy basslines and grittiness going through Cool Out. The Dabrye remix of One Ting has elements through it which remind me of Burial's style, The sound is more chill than Cool Out. No specific genre springs out. These tracks are unmastered and there's an upcoming album called Super Heavy to be released. KMS is the brain adult of The Bug and the super cool spoken word artist Mr. Roger Robinson. There's a few more tracks on their myspace but these two tracks stand out the most. The version of Cool Out on their page sounds a lil different to the one on the 12", unless I'm going crazy.

Make me better beat

I'm a sucker for anything involving the violen and the one in this beat is beautiful, this has been on rewind for a little while, i really hope someone does a wicked hiphop remix of this that will do the beat justice. maybe with that strong bass turned down just a little but the violin remaining and something else added. there's so much music coming out right now, i can't keep up to be honest, i think am gonna have to write less and just put the tracks up... i can't find a lot of the stuff on you tube though, yeah yeah i know youtubes not really the place for new music.

Roy Davis Jr- Gabriel

Listening to Zed Bias last night took me back into time, I remember hearing this track feat Peven Everett at the Rampage stand at the carnival in 1996 and just standing there mezmerised. Can you imgaine hearing this track over the speakers at Carnival? It was incredible. I've heard the original mix so often that I wanted to find a different version. I'm really liking this Large Joints Remix. There's even a dnb mix of this out there, but it's not on you tube.

Zed Bias- The Cauldron (feat Jay Electronica/Ghost1)

What to say about this man, his musical history is wide and varied, from the old days of garage, to dub, hiphop, dubstep, house. I don't think there's a genre he hasn't touched upon. He's been around for a long while but perhaps doesn't get as much coverage as a lot of other artists, maybe because he works under so many different names and does loads of collab works or maybe because he keeps it humble, in the likes of Burial style, am not sure. But to talk more in depth about this man would take several pages.

I was listening to his 'Ambush Riddim track', one of his new releases and wanted to upload it here, which took me on to his page and I discovered two other tracks which I've got to give props to. The first one is Cauldron feat Jay Electronica and Ghost1. I was surprised by the collab with Jay Electronica, I always feel a little surprised when US artists work with British artists and especially when they collab on non Hip Hop tracks. Why? I'm not sure to be honest. Method Man comes to mind as one of the guys who's always been up in the UK drum n bass scene, the classic War Dance junglist track feat Supercat that he featured on and his numerous collabs with Roni Size. I can't call Cauldron a Hip Hop track, there's something going through it, dubstep flavours. What can you say, it's Zed Bias, you can't label this man. In any case it's pretty far away from the typical production styles of Hip Hop. On this heavy track 'Cauldron' I was introduced for the first time to Ghost1. Who appears on another Zed Bias track called 'Seasons'. The beat on this track is ridiculous. And the Manchester based rhymer Ghost1 made me sit up and listen. He handles the beat real well and doesn't over or undershadow it.

I can't find 'The Cauldron' on you tube. 'Ambush Riddim''s been cut short, but I'll put it up anyway alongside Seasons. Cauldron is on the Sidestepper Recordsings page, which is an umbrella arm of works that ZB releases under alongside what he describes as his more commercially viable productions on more established labels. It makes sense, it allows him to experiment as much as he likes and probably why he's always one step ahead of what everyone else is doing. Hope you like all these tunes. It's made my day for sure.

Radical Guru- Strong Dub/ New Decade 12"

Oh my goodness, both tracks on this 12" are seriously dirty dub: Strong Dub and New Decade. Can't choose beetween the two... the title can't get any better, 'strong dub' is dropping those heavy dub beats with an electro vibe going through it and 'New Decade' with it's late beat change surprised the heck out of me and then a final lower tempo beat change, pure genius, im not a musician so trying to describe this stuff kills me... yikes!

who is this guy (girl?)... no myspace, nothing... i want to know more.

Dawn Raid - Royal Dub (Drum n Bass)

Out now on 12" on the flipside of 'Fe De Yout Them' on Souljah/Congo Natty. Can't find the track anywhere to let you listen, but it's a wicked mix of dub, old school dnb, with carnival flavours. Infectious track and 'fe de yout them' isn't half bad itself....
